Zendaya Coleman is an American actress and singer and model. Her career began with getting a modeling job which eventually paved the way to what she is known for, her starring role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up (2010–2013).
Zendaya can thank her early performing desires on her mother who worked as a house manager for the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California. Zendaya spent a lot of time there, and that’s where she first got on stage. This strong base in Shakespeare early on led to her enrolling in the theater’s student conservatory program and the Oakland School for the Arts.
Because of her fame on Shake It Up she was drafted to be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2013 when she was only 16, she was the youngest contestant ever to participate on the show. She is not only a gorgeous woman very she’s smart and knows what she wants. Tired of the same old tv tropes her next show she agreed to do she made sure to set some boundaries. She made the show KC Undercover more badass than the typical cheesy Disney channel show it was intended to be, She made sure the character had a black family and wasn’t able to sing or dance all while playing a secret agent.
Zendaya also started her music career by releasing singles that were incorporated into the Disney Channel. They included “Swag It Out” and “Watch Me”.She signed with Hollywood Records in 2012 and released her debut single with HR called, “Replay”. Though it wasn’t a number one hit, it did make it onto the Billboard top 50.
From 2015 to 2018, she produced and starred in the Disney Channel show K.C. Undercover.
She made her film debut in 2017, starring as Michelle Jones in Spider-Man: Homecoming. She then played Anne Wheeler in the musical drama film The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman.
Zendaya is a strong woman who finds strength in her culture; her name is derived from an African word that means “to give thanks,”
Zendaya began her professional career working as a fashion model for Macy’s, Mervyns and Old Navy.
Shake It Up premiered on November 7, 2010, and became the second highest rated Disney Channel show premiere ever, which was watched by 6.2 million viewers.
